The upcoming short-term mission trip to Nicaragua on March 15-21, 2009 will include visits to two hospitals in Nicaragua. We will be conducting outreach to mothers and their newborns. We have been blessed, and we have filled all travel volunteer slots.
Even if you are not traveling to Nicaragua, you can help by donating new items for layettes which the mission team will distribute in these hospitals. Items needed include:
- “onesies”
- infant socks
- infant hats
- flannel washcloths
- bars of Ivory soap
- small plush toys like Beanie Babies or rattles
- cotton receiving blankets
- bibs
Donation Drop Off
Bring your donated items in bags marked “Layettes” to the office of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church (WHPC) prior to February 20, 2009. WHPC is located at 7127 Bee Caves Road at the corner of Bee Caves Road and Barton Creek Parkway.
In selecting items for donation, please remember that Nicaragua is a hot country so the items should be short-sleeved and summer weight.
In addition to donating items, you are also encouraged to support the Nicaragua team by participating in a Sunday Outreach Opportunity at WHPC on Sunday, February 22, 2009, beginning at 12:20 p.m. in the WHPC Fellowship Hall for the assembly of the layettes. Further information may be obtained by contacting Mary Reagan, mreagan@mcginnislaw.com.
Welcomed By Nicaraguan Mothers
In October 2008, Austin Samaritans and members of WHPC distributed over 100 layettes to grateful mothers struggling in this impoverished country to care for their infants. Your continued support of this mission outreach is needed and gratefully received.
Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food…I was naked and you gave me clothing…Truly, I tell you, just as you did for one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.
Matt. 25: 34-36, 40
