Austin Samaritans Computer Connections has connected your donated US technology to impoverished schoolchildren in Nicaragua. Computer skills are a valuable commodity in developing countries. Having experience with computers will help these students when they enter the workforce, and can open opportunities that would otherwise not exist.
At Austin Samaritans, it is our wish and hope that these children will gain the skills to lift themselves from a cycle of poverty so prevalent in Central America. Your kind donations are helping! What follows is a note from Carolyn Sirker, Secretary of the Board of Directors of Escuela Cristiana Emilia de Sirker.
Dear Austin Samaritans,
Thirteen of the Fourteen computers that we received from your last shipment were installed this past weekend at the school in Sta. Rosa. The 14th one is in the dispensary at the Samaritano. We are using the computers that were formerly in the Sta. Rosa. computer lab for different ministries. Two are going to the Missionary Movement, one for the Institute and we will put word out that we have some to give to other ministries.
Please thank everyone for their help in obtaining the computers. We pray that the Lord will bless each one of them.
I'm sending photos of the first grade in their computer class today. The new teacher is a former Santa Rosa graduate! She is in her 4th year at the university studying computer science.
