Several local Austin leaders dedicated to assisting with the medical, educational, and spiritual needs of God's children around the globe, met at the home of Dr. John Doty on February 8, 2007.
The group discussed ways by which they could work towards greater coordination between area churches, hospitals, and non-profit organizations to improve the human condition in existing areas of focus: South and Central America, and Africa.
The result of the meeting was verbal agreement to create a new not-for-profit organization called Austin Samaritans. Several present agreed to become a part of the initial board. Additional meetings will be held with the goals of establishing the non-profit status of the organization.
